Parents sue for wrongful birth - DOWN SYNDROME

"TWO Victorian couples are suing doctors for failing to diagnose Down Syndrome in their unborn babies, denying them the chance to terminate the pregnancies. "In the event that Down Syndrome had been detected, (she) would have elected to undergo a termination of her pregnancy," their statement of claim says."

This is why my doctor was afraid to face me after my newborn daughter was diagnosed with T21.

I yelled at him allright. I said, "Doctor, you delivered a perfectly healthy baby, who scored a 9.9 APGAR, and you feel guilty? Who do you think you are, God? HE sent us the child with Down syndrome, you had NOTHING to do with it. I refused pre-natal testing and knew that this was a possibility, so, the way I see it, it was a matter between me and God. You had no say in the matter."
The good doctor was vastly relieved!
